Eric Bayani – Expertise and Experience

Eric brings 25 yrs. of experience in supply chain, logistics and marine terminal operations. Recent responsibilities include developing and implementing a Science Based Net Zero program with 2030 interim target and 2040 100% decarbonization plan as well as managing the company wide ESG reporting via GRESB framework and initiating the ESG Annual Report.  As a tenant at the Port of Long Beach (POLB), he ensured the San Pedro Bay Ports Clean Air Action Plan (CAAP) and the marine terminal Green Lease were followed and completed.  Emission reduction projects included a 2022 regular diesel fuel conversion of over 1M gallons per year to Renewable Diesel (RD99).  Eric lead the POLB’s first electric infrastructure marine container terminal installation and became the first to complete a 12 month demonstration of electric yard tractors charged with manual and hands free chargers ending in 2021. Additionally, he coordinated one of the first AEG Shorepower Bonnet system connections in 2016 and managed the first POLB weekly container ship shorepower connection starting in 2008. Eric has been awarded and administered over $15M in various Environmental and Security grants. Lastly, he’s received over $2M in carbon revenues through the State of California Air Resources Board (CARB) Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) program. 

Due to his extensive experience in emission reduction and demonstration projects, Eric is constantly engaged with the state and regional offices, non-profit and private groups responsible for administering grants.  Supplier engagement has naturally developed a network of global companies, established and start-up companies, along with OEMs who are willing participants in the many applications.

Stormwater is another area where Eric has years of knowledge.  Whether you’re in California or Washington, Eric has kept facilities in line with stormwater requirements through best management practices and, when necessary, installation of in ground and/or above ground filtration systems.  

Aside from clean air/water projects and grants, Eric is familiar with the inner workings of private companies, public organizations and labor unions. He oversaw customer stevedore commercial contracts for over 12 years.  Eric has presented and updated Executive Boards of several international corporations as well as communicated with various government air and water agencies in the State of California and Washington. He’s also been deeply involved in air and water regulatory review with City and State offices or in collaboration with trade organizations like the Pacific Merchant Shipping Association.  Lastly, Eric’s years on the waterfront has given him a unique inside view on the maritime industry, union labor and the overall supply chain.
